I have learned the Paiute ways through Deans Grandmother Rena Beers (89) she is a very strong native woman. We are a very busy family, each season we will have featured items to suit the season. Each piece requires time and prep time. We get willows in winter and dig roots in the spring/summer. Our Reservation is very rich in native roots which can be harvested. The bisquet root and the suga a ( bitter root). We enjoy that time. Rena also scrapes and brain tans hides "the old way." We have learned not to waste. |
